EXP2 WEEK 03 Final images and text

The light-rail station is inspired by:
Decimus Burton (1800-1881) &
Mokena Makaka (1976 - present).

It is a mixture of an old English and classical style with a modern African design for the public.

A medium texture is used for the separation wall between the two light rails. This is used for the vertical style of the texture reinforces the idea for the columns, the dots create an African feel.

The theme of the station is sustainability. This is mainly achieved through the high use of glass in the station. As well as using an "open" area rather than a closed space increasing circulation in the station.

The second theme is for the station is "multiculture in UNSW" the platform acts as a place where all students will meet to travel between the two sides of Anzac road. i.e. going to university.

The wall slab for the elevator control is covered with a darker classical inspired texture, subtly enforcing on the classical roots of the building.

The canopy of the station reflects the African heritage design which Makaka employs in his architecture. The columns reflect the classical style of Burton. The slant for the columns, which also as a support for the station, gives a modern feel.

(After rendering in Lumion the columns were not slanted as the sketchup original)

Medium texture used for the stair's face. It reflects the use of truss structures in the roof and the sturdy nature of classical architecture.

Sturdier support for the strcuture made of concrete plated with marble. Encased with glass which lights on top for driving at night.
